International Conference on Engineering Geology and Geohazards 2025

EGCON 2025 invites participants to a memorable conference with opportunities to engage with industry and academic experts. The event, held at the India Habitat Centre in New Delhi, includes excursions to notable projects like Bhakra and Tehri Dams, along with customized tours to explore India.

Key Details and Focus:

  • Theme: “The International Green Conference on Engineering Geology and the Environment / Earth First – A Truly Biodegradable Event.” While this is the “Green” theme, the core focus remains on Engineering Geology and Geohazards.
  • Comprehensive Platform: EGCON 2025 is designed to be a dynamic platform for exchanging cutting-edge advancements in:
    • Engineering Geology: Including engineering geological mapping, rock mass characterization, engineering geological models, field and laboratory investigations, and applications in infrastructure projects (e.g., tunneling, hydropower, pumped storage projects).
    • Geotechnical Engineering: Practical aspects related to the geological context.
    • Geohazards: Covering various geological hazards, their assessment, mitigation, and rehabilitation methodologies.
  • India’s Infrastructure Boom: The conference is particularly timely given India’s significant infrastructure development, especially in the Himalayas (tunnels, roads) and ambitious hydropower projects (including 47 GW of pumped storage capacity).
  • Collaboration: It provides an invaluable opportunity to engage with leading experts from industry and academia globally. It’s organized in collaboration with the IAEG and the Geological Survey of India (GSI), celebrating GSI’s 175th anniversary.
  • Pre-Conference Workshop: A workshop on “Advancements in Engineering Geological Modelling” is scheduled for November 30, 2025.
  • Publication: Both extended abstracts and full papers from the conference will be published as separate volumes.
  • Social & Technical Excursions: Delegates will have the opportunity to experience India’s rich cultural diversity and warm hospitality, with a complimentary Delhi tour on November 30, 2025, and optional post-conference technical excursions to major projects like Tehri Dam and Bhakra Dam in the Himalayas (or Gandhi Sagar Pumped Storage Project in Peninsular India).
