
CDI aims to empower individuals with the skills to enhance community resources and improve quality of life. The program offers three four-day training sessions focused on practical, interactive training for community and economic development professionals, fostering networking and peer learning. Participants learn from practitioners and develop leadership skills to address economic and quality of life issues.
General Information about CDI Training:
- Mission: To empower individuals with the knowledge and skills to proactively improve the physical and human resources of their communities, enhancing the quality of life for all citizens.
- Curriculum: The program typically consists of three, four-day training sessions (Year 1, 2, and 3) that can be completed in subsequent years at the same site or by fast-tracking to multiple sites within the CDI network. An advanced year is also often available.
- Target Audience: Community and economic development practitioners, city/county/state officials, community volunteers, non-profit staff, chamber staff, private industry, and academics.
- Certification: CDI helps prepare participants for the nationally recognized Professional Community and Economic Developer (PCED) certification offered through the Community Development Council (CDC).
