The Color Workshop at the Truro Center for the Arts At Castle Hill invites participants to enhance their understanding of color mixing and application in painting. This engaging workshop is designed for all skill levels, although some drawing experience is recommended. Participants will learn to mix a broad spectrum of colors using just the primary colors red, yellow, and blue, with the addition of three more colors to create a harmonious and vibrant palette. The workshop encourages attendees to identify color in whites, neutral tones, and darker shades, improving their overall recognition of relative temperature, hue, and value in art.
The workshop will primarily focus on oil painting from still life setups in the studio, alongside the study of master paintings. The instructor, a seasoned artist who has been painting since 1989 and has exhibited in locations such as Spain, Charleston SC, and Cambridge MA, now calls Provincetown home. With a BA in Architecture from Penn State and extensive training in various art disciplines, including drawing, etching, and painting, the instructor brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the course. Their teaching has spanned since 2010, covering topics from beginner drawing to landscape painting, currently at the Truro Center for the Arts and the Provincetown Art Association and Museum. With a focus on exploring nature, the power of color, and abstraction within representational art, this workshop promises to be a rewarding experience for all who attend.
