The South Asian Biotechnology Conference (SABC) is a prominent event organized by South Asian University (SAU) in New Delhi, India. This conference serves as a regional initiative aimed at fostering collaboration and networking among scientists, students, industry leaders, and policymakers in the fields of life sciences and biotechnology. The conference underscores the shared histories and aspirations of the eight South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) countries, which include Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. Since its inception in 2015, the SABC has successfully taken place in various SAARC countries, including Bangladesh, Nepal, and Sri Lanka, with the latest event occurring in 2023 in Dhaka. The upcoming 7th edition of SABC in 2025 will be hosted at the beautiful permanent campus of SAU in New Delhi, providing an ideal setting for intensive networking and collaboration.
The conference will feature prominent speakers, including Prof. Ritu Gaur, Dean of the Faculty of Life Sciences and Biotechnology at SAU, Dr. Ravi Shankar Akundi from SAU, and Dr. Sneh Lata Pareek from the International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB). Participants will have the opportunity to engage in discussions focused on molecular mechanisms of disease progression, stress physiology, therapeutic responses, and developmental biology. In addition to the main conference, there will be workshops offering hands-on training in essential laboratory techniques, such as Real-time PCR/qRT-PCR and Western blotting, aimed at supporting young researchers, faculty, and PhD students. Limited accommodation will be available at the South Asian University Guest House for participants on a payment basis.
